About GameYantra

Most of us grew up playing some version of these games — around a table, on a train, during a power cut. GameYantra is a small independent studio in Mumbai, India, bringing them to the browser and to phones.

Who makes these games

I am Amol Samant, and GameYantra is mine. I work on it mostly alone — the code, the rules, the art direction, the website. My wife, my daughter and a handful of friends and family test the games, and they occasionally help with a write-up, a video or a piece of art.

I have been building these games since 2018. They were originally published at duetgames.club, and moved to gameyantra.com over 2023 and 2024. Some of the older Android packages still carry the earlier studio name, which is why you may see it in a store listing.

What you will find here

There are 68 games on the site, all playable in the browser with no download, no sign-up and no account:

Three kinds of game sit side by side here. Some are the ones you already know and may not have played in years. Some are favourites with a twist in the rules — a different scoring system, an unusual layout, an extra mode. And some will be completely new to you while being entirely ordinary somewhere else in the world: Badam Saat, Mendicot, Paanch Teen Do, Gulam Chor, Scopa, Konane. I hope you find something in all three.

How they are built

The games are written once and compiled to run both in the browser and as native apps, so the rules engine you play against on this site is the same one that ships in the mobile versions. What differs between platforms is presentation and features — online multiplayer, for instance, is available in more of the mobile editions than the web ones, and I am enabling it on the web one game at a time.

The rules described on each game page are written against that engine rather than from the general description of the game, so where a version here differs from the rules you know, the page should tell you how.

On the app stores

Every game here is also on Google Play, and most are on the App Store too. Many are published as collections rather than sold separately — Card Games for All, Solitaire Games for All, Board Games for All, Dice Games for All — so one download often covers a dozen of the games on this site.

A few titles are Android-only for now, and an iOS pack for the Indian card games is planned. Each game page links to whichever store editions exist for that title.

How the website is supported

The games here are free to play. Mobile editions may contain advertising or optional purchases, as identified in their store listings. The website may use advertising after the appropriate disclosures and consent controls are in place. Advertising never determines a game outcome.

Player privacy and progress

Website games do not require a GameYantra account. Where a game saves settings, achievements or progress, that information is generally stored in your own browser rather than in a GameYantra user database. Browser-stored progress can disappear when site data is cleared, and it does not follow you to another device.

Analytics and advertising technologies are treated separately from essential game saves. Details are in the Privacy Policy.

Corrections and support

Regional games often have several legitimate rule sets, and I would rather be told than be wrong. If you find a rule error, a broken game, an accessibility problem or an inaccurate statement, please use the Contact page. Include the game name, your device and browser, and a short description of what happened.
