Overview
Teen Patti — literally ‘three cards’ — is one of the most popular card games in India, a three-card cousin of poker. Four players each ante a ‘boot’ into the pot, receive three cards, and bet in turns until only one player is left or a ‘show’ settles the hand. This is a for-fun version played with virtual chips against the computer — there is no real-money gambling.
How to play
Every player first pays the boot to create the pot, and each is dealt three cards. On your turn you can play ‘blind’ — betting without looking at your cards — or ‘see’ them first, after which your stake is double that of a blind player. Betting continues around the table until players fold or a show is called.
Betting actions
On your turn you may See your cards, Call to match the current stake, Raise x2 or Raise x4 to increase it, Pack (fold) to drop out, or — when only two players remain — call a Show to compare hands. Staying blind is cheaper but risky; seeing your cards costs more but lets you bet with knowledge.
Hand ranking
From highest to lowest: Trail (three of a kind), Pure Sequence (three consecutive cards of the same suit), Sequence (three consecutive cards of mixed suits), Color (three of the same suit), Pair (two of a kind), and High Card. A-K-Q is the highest sequence, and A-2-3 is treated as the lowest.
The show and winning
A show compares the two remaining active hands, and the higher hand takes the pot; an exact tie splits it. Winning the pot without a show — by making everyone else pack — is just as valid, which is where reading your opponents and betting boldly pays off.
Strategy and tips
Blind play is a powerful bluff: betting confidently without seeing your cards pressures opponents to fold. When you do see a weak hand, pack early rather than throwing chips after it. Trails and pure sequences are rare, so a strong pair or a high sequence is often worth backing. Above all, watch how your opponents bet — hesitation and sudden raises tell you as much as the cards.
