Conquian

Play two-player Conquian against the computer. Take the centre card only when you can meld it immediately, then discard and race to eleven melded cards.

How to play Conquian

Ten cards are dealt to each player from a 40-card pack with the eights, nines and tens removed. A centre card is offered face up. You can take it only by placing it straight into a legal meld, using cards from your hand when needed; it never enters your hand.

Melds

A set is three or four cards of one rank. A run is three to eight consecutive cards of one suit. The rank order is A-2-3-4-5-6-7-J-Q-K, so 6-7-J is consecutive. Aces are low and runs cannot turn the corner.

Your turn

Meld the offered centre card and then discard, or turn it down and reveal the next stock card. After revealing a new card you must either meld it or pass it to the computer. Existing table melds may be rearranged as long as every resulting group remains valid.

Forcing a card

If the centre card fits the other player’s existing table melds without help from their hand, the opponent can force them to take it. They must then discard, even if that interrupts what they were building.

Winning

You win a hand by melding eleven cards. The eleventh must come from the centre, so emptying your ten-card hand by melding and discarding is not enough. If the stock runs out, the hand is drawn and the next hand is worth double. The first player to three points wins the match.

Controls

  • Tap cards in your hand to select them, then tap Meld.
  • Use Next Card to turn down the offer and reveal from the stock.
  • After melding, select one card and tap Discard.
  • Tap Force when the centre card fits the computer’s table automatically.
