Overview
Pig is one of the simplest push-your-luck dice games there is — and quietly one of the most tense. On your turn you roll a single die again and again, adding each result to a running turn score, and you may stop whenever you like to bank it. But roll a 1 and you ‘pig out’: the whole turn score vanishes. The first player to reach 100 points wins, so every roll is a small bet against your own greed.
Goal
Be the first player to reach 100 total points. You play against a computer opponent, alternating turns.
Rolling
- Tap Roll to throw one die.
- Any result from 2 through 6 is added to your current turn score.
- You may keep rolling to build a larger turn score, as many times as you dare.
Pig out
If you roll a 1, you pig out: the entire unbanked turn score is lost and your turn passes immediately. Points you banked on earlier turns are always safe.
Holding and winning
Tap Hold to add your current turn score to your total and pass the turn safely. The first player whose total reaches at least 100 wins the game.
Strategy and tips
A well-known guideline is to hold once your turn score reaches about 20, since beyond that the risk of rolling a 1 outweighs the average gain from another roll. Adjust to the situation, though: if your opponent is close to 100, take bigger risks to catch up; if you are comfortably ahead, bank early to protect your lead. Near the finish, roll only until you have exactly enough to win, then hold.
Controls
Use Roll when the potential reward is worth the risk and Hold when you want to protect the points you have already collected. The player panels show each total and the active turn score.
