Judgement

Predict your tricks exactly through ten increasingly tense rounds. Precision matters more than simply winning every hand.

Overview
Judgement — also known as Kachufool or Oh Hell — is a four-player trick-taking game where precision beats power, and it has become a favourite at gatherings for exactly that reason. Everyone plays for themselves across ten rounds, and the number of cards shrinks every round, from ten cards each down to a single card in the final, nerve-wracking round. Before each round you bid exactly how many tricks you will win, and here is the twist that defines the game: you score only if you hit that number on the nose. Winning more tricks than you bid is just as useless as winning fewer, so a hand full of aces is worthless unless you have called it correctly. That single rule turns every deal into a puzzle of self-assessment — reading your cards, guessing what the trump rotation and your opponents will allow, then delivering exactly what you promised. The shrinking hand keeps the challenge fresh, since a confident ten-card round demands very different judgement from a tense one-card finale.
About the game

Four players compete individually over ten rounds. The number of cards falls from ten in round one to one in the final round.

Bidding

Bid the exact number of tricks you expect to win. The dealer cannot make the combined bids equal the number of cards dealt.

Playing tricks
  1. Follow the led suit whenever possible.
  2. If void, play any card including trump.
  3. The highest trump wins; otherwise the highest card of the led suit wins.
  4. The trick winner leads next.
Trump and scoring

Trump rotates Hearts, Spades, Diamonds, and Clubs. Hit your bid exactly to score 10 plus your bid; missing the bid scores zero for that round.
