Overview
Yacht is the original dice game that inspired Yahtzee. Each turn you roll five dice, keep the ones you want, and re-roll the rest, trying to build the combination that best fills one of twelve score-sheet categories. Each category can be used only once, so the real game is deciding which roll to spend where. Score more than the computer across all twelve categories to win.
Goal and turn flow
- Score more points than the computer across all twelve categories.
- Roll up to three times during each turn.
- After a roll, tap dice to keep or release them before rolling again.
- Choose one unused category to record and finish the turn.
Number categories
Ones through Sixes each score the sum of the dice showing that number — for example, three 5s score 15 in the Fives category. These simple categories are your safety net when a roll does not fit a bigger combination.
Combination categories
- Full House: the total of all five dice.
- Four of a Kind: the total of the four matching dice.
- Small Straight: 30 points.
- Big Straight: 40 points.
- Choice: the total of all five dice, usable for any roll.
- Yacht: five matching dice, worth 50 points.
Using the score sheet
After rolling, open Show Score Sheet. Each available category shows the score your current dice would earn there. Tap a category to record it permanently — remember that every category can be used only once, so a wasted high roll early can cost you later.
Strategy and tips
Chase the Yacht and the straights when a roll starts to line up, but keep Choice in reserve as a dumping ground for a turn that goes nowhere. Try not to fill your number categories with tiny scores — a single 1 in Sixes is a category thrown away. Weigh each roll against what you still have open; late in the game the best play is often the one that simply avoids scoring a zero.
Controls
Tap Roll to throw the dice, tap individual dice to hold them, or Clear to release all held dice. Open the score sheet whenever scoring is available to see and record your options.
