Seven Up

Simple yet engaging card game. Reveal and arrange Ace through Seven before your opponent.

Overview
Seven Up is a light, quick two-player card game — a race to arrange your cards in order from Ace through Seven before your opponent can. It is the kind of easy, sociable game families reach for when they want something fast and fun rather than heavy on strategy. On your turn you draw from the stock or snatch a useful discard, then slot each card into its numbered position — the Ace in position one, the Two in position two, and so on up to Seven — chaining placements as each revealed card keeps fitting the open slots. Cards higher than a Seven are useless and must be discarded, which is where a little judgement creeps in: watching which ranks your opponent still needs, remembering which useful cards have already gone, and deciding when to gamble on the discard pile versus the hidden stock. Simple enough for children yet quick and competitive, Seven Up is an ideal filler between longer games.
About the game

Both players receive seven cards from a standard 52-card deck. Their cards form face-down rows, while the remaining deck becomes the centre stock pile.

How to play
  1. Draw the top stock card, or take a usable discard.
  2. Place Ace in position 1, Two in position 2, through Seven in position 7.
  3. Reveal the displaced card and keep placing while it matches an open position.
  4. Discard an unusable card to end your turn.
  5. Reveal all seven positions first to win.
Drawing and placing rules
  • Ace counts as 1 and Seven counts as 7.
  • Take the discard only if it fits an open position immediately.
  • An 8 or higher cannot be placed and must be discarded.
  • A repeated rank is unusable once its position is filled.
Tips and strategy
  • Watch which ranks your opponent still needs.
  • Remember useful cards already discarded.
  • Prefer the discard when it begins a guaranteed placement chain.
  • Drawing from stock hides what you need.
